I had drinks last night with a top notch music scholar and gentleman who loves music profoundly. We talked about all kinds of music and he mention a name I had never heard before; Danny Gatton. He told me that this man was the greatest guitar player of all time...of all time, no questions asked. I love it when I hear about someone I've never heard before and I get a chance to discover them! So I came home tonight and went on Youtube and I think you can see through my skull at this moment. How the hell did I not know of this guy before? Plus this was after watching some of the greatest living guitarists who currently are alive at Clapton's Crossroad Festival today.Check out this blistering solo on one of my favorite songs of all time, "Sleepwalk" on youtube here.

Smmmoking guitar playing! Thanks for bringing him to my attention. I too feel dumb for not having heard of a guy who plays the guitar this well...
As a lifelong musician and professional at that, Danny IS the best ever. Hendrix will always be the King and ultimate revolutionary, but Danny was the most naturally talented and complete guitarist since.
